Marlena stood there on the terrace weeping at the site of her beautiful baby girl. She just watched as John and Belle were talking, waiting for the perfect moment to make herself known. John and Belle stood there immersed in conversation. “I’m sorry that I’m here so late dad… I should have called first. Did I interrupt you and Kate?” Belle said in mild disgust. John feeling exasperated, “Come on baby…this is your home! You do not need an invitation!” Belle continued with a look of sadness on her face, “Yeah… well…it doesn’t feel like my home anymore.” John looks at her lovingly and strokes his daughters cheek, while Belle continues, “I just miss mom” Belle says through her tears!
Marlena is in tears as she listens to the two people she loves most in the world. After she hears Belle say that she ‘misses her mom’ Marlena feels that is the perfect opportunity to reveal herself. Without giving any thought to the affect that her sudden appearance might have on her daughter she steps through the terrace doors unheard by anyone and whispers through her tears, “I miss you too.” Belle feels as though she is hearing things as she looks up at her father, then she whips around to find the angelic voice that was her mothers. When she sees her mother standing there before her, her legs falter, and her father is there to steady her. With his hand holding her shoulders steady he tells her, “Easy honey…easy” Belle stood there oblivious to everything around her except the form of her mother that was standing across the room from her. When she finds her voice again, she whispers ever so faintly, ”Mo…mom?” she says barley able to catch her breath, “Oh …my God. Is…is that really you?” Marlena has tears welled up in her eyes and streaming down her face at the site of her beautiful daughter. A daughter that she never thought she would see again. So filled with joy she walks toward her daughter unable to speak. Marlena just approached Belle nodding her head yes… with a smile from ear to ear and tears dripping from her eyes she held out her arms to her beloved daughter. Belle finally realizes that she is not seeing things. Her mother is really there. With sobs now coming uncontrollably Belle rushes toward her mother and jumps into her arms. Belle was finally back in her mothers arms. The tender loving arms that she has needed so desperately these past few months. Marlena is beyond joy as her happy sobs are released after all these months of dreaming of this moment. She wraps her loving arms around her daughter, vowing never to forget how she feels at this moment. Vowing never to forget how it feels to be able to hold her daughter in her arms one more time.
After a few minutes of silence Marlena finally spoke to her daughter that was still wrapped in her arms, “It is… so good… to hold you!” Marlena said through her sobs. Belle who is still crying holds to her mother desperately, “I can’t believe this. Your really here!” A huge smile comes to Belle’s face as she pulls back from her mothers warm arms and looks at her angelic face, “Everyone thought that you drowned!” Marlena takes a minute to explain everything to Belle. She tells her about Tony, and how they suspect that Victor and grandma Caroline didn’t make it. “Oh mom… I’m so sorry… but I am so grateful that you’re here.” She says through her happy tears, “Everyone said that I had to accept your death…but I couldn’t.” She says with a beautiful smile on her face. Marlena is beyond joy, and she feels positively giddy. She jumps up and down in joy with tears in her eyes, “I have to look at you… I have to…I just have to look at you” she says as she takes Belles face in her hands and lovingly strokes her hair. Marlena pulls herself away from Belle and looks over at John who is standing next to her, and she lovingly touches his cheek. “Look at her John… look at our baby.” John smiles at Belle. Marlena stares at Belle again not able to digest just how much her daughter has changed in the months that she has been gone. “You look… I don’t know you look different.” Marlena says to Belle. “I am a mess right now.” Belles says as she looks away feeling a little embarrassed. “NO! No you are so…beautiful to me honey! So beautiful.” Marlena replies with love, as she looks at her daughter in bewilderment “You just look so… Oh my word you look like your grown up!” Belle shies away a little at her mothers fawning over her… “Well I don’t feel grown up. I don’t know if dad had a chance to tell you what’s been going on the last couple of months…” Marlena notices her daughters pause “Well no I just got home… but … we were kept apprised of things going on here… it was Tony’s way of torturing us.” Belle drops her head. Suddenly feeling ashamed that her mother knows what she has done the last few months, “Then… then you know I got married?” Belle says looking back up at her mother. Marlena nods slightly “I know you married Philip. I was… I was surprised”. Belle looks away again. Seeing Belles need to talk to her mother in private, John excuses himself to give them some privacy. Marlena leads Belle over to the sofa… “Why don’t we have a seat baby girl. I think this might take a while.” Marlena says with a huge grin on her face. Belle suddenly realizes how much she has needed her mother. Belle lays her head on her mothers shoulder, “Oh mom…I’ve needed you so much!” Marlena smiles through her tears, “Well I’m here now baby.” Marlena glances over at her wedding photo, “I’m home now… and I’m not going anywhere!” she said more as a fact than a statement as she lovingly stroked Belle’s hair. “I am finally home… where I belong!”
