Marlena stood there in shock as she thought to herself…”How can he talk to me like that? I can’t believe that he would take Kate’s side over mine. Most of all I can’t believe that he would stand by and let her talk to our daughter that way.” After months upon month of Tony controlling her every move Marlena was damned if she was going to let anybody run her thoughts and feelings… not even John. She thought that it was high time that SOMEONE spoke the truth. She looked at John with anger clouding her eyes and spoke to him with the same edge in her voice, “You know what John… it’s not enough. I am just getting started. How can you just sit there and let this woman… for lack of a better word…talk to our daughter like that?” John looked at Marlena with a glazed look in his eyes. He could not believe the way Marlena has been acting since she has gotten home. He knew that something had to have happened to her to make her behave this way, she is so different from the sweet soft spoken woman that he married. “Marlena… what has gotten into you? Why are you acting this way?” “Just because I am finally speaking my mind, something has gotten into me? What about you John? Before I left… no excuse me…before I was held hostage for months on end, you would have NEVER aloud anyone to speak to your daughter like that. So I guess I should ask you the same question, what has gotten into you?” John shook his head in sadness, this was not how he wanted things to be now that Marlena was finally home, “Marlena, honey I haven’t changed. It’s just that…I have been here… I know what the situation is, and I know where Kate is coming from… that’s all.” Marlena got angry and turned away from him. Belle, Kate and Roman watched as Marlena and John sat there arguing in front of them. Belle walked over to Marlena and wrapped her arms around her mothers sagging form. “Mom I appreciate that you want to defend me but…” Marlena cut her off, “No butts Belle. No one and I do mean NO ONE has a right to talk to my daughter like that.” she said staring straight at Kate. Belle glanced at Kate and then looked back at her mother, “Mom I appreciate that… I really do, but it isn’t necessary. Really, I actually don’t really care what Kate thinks of me.” Belle said with a triumphant smile on her face, which made Marlena smile in return. Kate saw the exchange between them and heard her name mentioned, which really started to annoy her, “You know… I don’t appreciate being talked about like I’m not even in the room!” John was getting frustrated at all the arguing going on and blurted out, “That is ENOUGH!”, then he continued in a softer tone, “Come on, this should be a happy day. Roman and Marlena are back with everyone who loves them, not to mention Jack, and Cassie. This should be a celebration… not a battle field!” Roman nodded in agreement, “John is right. This should be a day filled with happy tears and laughter, not snide comments and rude remarks.” Roman said while looking back and forth between Kate and Marlena. “Katie…why don’t you get your things together and we’ll go back to the hotel?” Kate just stood there shaking her head, “No!” she said in a slightly irritated tone, “Roman, John I’m sorry but I am not just going to run out of here with my tail between my legs.” Kate slowly walked toward Belle. “I know that I have done things that you are not happy about Belle, and I know that your father wants us to make peace with each other.” Marlena looked over at John who looked down at the ground when he noticed Marlena looking at him. Marlena sent her stare back over to Belle and Kate, who was still talking. “I know that you were upset when you father and I got closer, and you know that your fathers happiness means everything to me. But there is one thing that I can’t get over… and that is the fact that you MARRIED my son when you didn’t love him. And now not only is there a chance that he will be killed… but his two brother might loose their lives as well.” Belle looked at Kate with a small look of regret on her face, “I never intended for anything like that to happen.” Kate looked at her with disbelief and spoke to her with a hint of sarcasm in her voice “No of course not, you just wanted to love Shawn Brady… and you didn’t mind breaking your husbands heart to do that.” “Kate I care about Philip… I never meant to hurt him, ever.“ Kate was getting agitated with Belle’s explanations, “You care about him? You care about him…Belle you promised privately and in public that you would LOVE him and be with him FOREVER!” Belle had enough of Kate’s insults, “Kate my feelings were confused! Maybe the same way your feelings were confused when you were with my dad…while you were still married to Roman!” That comment took everyone off guard. They all felt uncomfortable and remained silent, that is until Kate felt the need to defend herself, “That is hardly the same thing Belle. I was Roman’s widow… I NEVER cheated on him… I thought that he was dead…and that is the only reason that I felt that I could move on with your father.” Belle looked a way with a disbelieving smile on face while Kate continued her tirade. “But you KNOW that Philip is alive, and you KNOW that he is in combat, and you KNOW that he is risking his life for his country and for you! Now how devastated do you think he is going to be when he realizes that the whole time he has been building his life around you…YOU’VE been planning on divorcing him?” Kate finally takes a breath and then continues with undeniable venom in her voice, “You know I always knew that Sami was selfish… but she is nothing…NOTHING compared to you!” Marlena looked at Kate with pure rage in her eyes as she wrapped her daughter in arms and tried to wipe away her tears!
