John ran down the stairs of the penthouse desperate the get the doorbell. “Marlena,” he yelled loudly.
“Can’t get it John…I’m busy,” she replied from somewhere on the first floor.
“Happy Thanksgiving,” John said as he opened the door and invited Roman and Kate into the penthouse. “You look lovely Kate,” John said as he kissed her on the cheek and then shook Roman’s hand. “Can I get your coats,” he asked as they removed them.
“I love how Marlena’s decorated for the holidays,” Kate said as she looked around the penthouse in envy. Marlena had chosen silver and blue to use this year and as always, her taste was exquisite. A 15-foot tall Douglas fit sat decorated in the corner of the room.
“Thanks, Marlena spent a lot of time last night putting the finishing touches on the decorations…As you both know, Thanksgiving and Christmas are her favorite holidays. Why don’t the two of you help yourself to something to drink and have a seat while I hang up your coats.” John took Kate’s mink coat and Romans leather jacket and hung them with care in the hall closet.
“So John, when are Will, Lucas, Austin, Billie and Chelsea going to get here?” Kate asked, as she looked around.
John looked at his watch before responding. “They should be here any minute.”
“Along with Samantha,” Roman added, looking at his wife, the frustration evident on his face.
“Saved by the doorbell,” John replied as he got up to answer it. He didn’t want to spend the day fighting over who was invited. Samantha was Roman and Marlena’s daughter and had every right to spend the holiday with her family. John was not a fan of Sami’s, but Kate really needed to learn to control her hatred of the girl.
John opened the door and was pleasantly surprised to see a crowd of people outside. “Happy Thanksgiving Lucas, Sami and Will,” John said as he politely kissed Sami on her cheek, much to her horror. He shook Lucas’ hand and gave Will a hug. He wished that he and Marlena had more of an opportunity to spend time with their grandson. He was growing up so fast and the animosity Sami felt toward John prevented them from spending as much time with Will as they would have liked. “Put your coats on the stairs and I’ll hang them up in a couple minutes,” John said as they entered the penthouse.
“Billie, Austin and Chelsea, Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for coming,” John said as he took their coats. Chelsea looked bored until the saw the inside of the penthouse. “Wow, Mr. Black, you have a really, really, really nice house. I’d love it if I could live in a place like this.” Her eyes were as wide as saucers as she took in the opulence of the Christmas decorations.
“Please come in and have a seat. Kate and Roman are here already…Chelsea, I’m sure that your cousin Samantha can show you around the penthouse. Austin, I’m really glad that you decided to spend the holiday with us,” John said to Austin as he shook his hand. With all the estrogen that was going to be flying around the room today, he was glad to have a ‘normal’ male on his side.
John closed the door and took all the coats and hung them in the closet. He wondered what Marlena was up to. The house smelled wonderful. The aroma of fresh pine and cinnamon filled the air. John’s heart warmed at the thought that for the first time in years he might actually have a great Thanksgiving. His baby girl, his adorable granddaughter and his wife were all he needed to make the holiday a joyous one. He just wished that Brady and Carrie had been able to make it home. Walking back into the living room, he was surprised to see that everyone was acting civil. Will sat quietly in a corner playing with a video game. Sami was talking with Roman. Kate, Lucas, Billie and Austin seemed to be having a lively conversation based on the amount of laughter that was generated. Chelsea sat on the floor looking through a fashion magazine.
Seeing that everything was under control John decided to check up on Marlena. “There you are,” John said as he entered the kitchen.
“Where else did you think I’d be? Hiding from my guests in the bedroom?” Marlena bent down to check on the turkey in the oven. “That idea is somewhat tempting.”
“Do that again,” John moaned as he looked at Marlenas ass with lust and appreciation.
“Do what again?” Marlena asked oblivious to John.
“Bend over again,” John said, the lust evident in his voice.
Marlena turned around and caught him slowly licking his lips and staring at her chest. “John,” she said as she threw the oven mitt that she was using at him.
“What? Can you blame me? Seeing you in the kitchen wearing that cute little apron is turning me on,” John said in a low voice. “Come here baby, I need some of that.”
“Watching me do the taxes turns you on John…Give me back the mitt,” she teasingly scolded him as she held out her hand, palm up.
John slowly walked over to her and was about to place it in her hand. “I will, but first I need a kiss.” John placed the oven mitt in her palm and then gently cupped her face and lowered his lips to her. She automatically parted her lips giving him greater access. Slowly he lowered his lips, sucking in her top lip, hands on her face. Marlena felt the warmth of his tongue and was gone.
“Oh John,” she moaned into his mouth, kissing him back with all the passion that was in her. She sucked in his bottom lip, hands on his chest. She kneaded her fingers in his shirt, trying desperately to feel closer to him.
John pulled back, slowly caressing her face with the tips of his thumbs. “You are so beautiful Doc…I am so thankful to have you in my life.” Marlena’s eyes were closed, lips parted. John couldn’t touch her enough, get close enough to her.
“There you are mom,” Belle said as she walked into the kitchen, interrupting her parents. “When Roman said that you were cooking the dinner, I totally thought he was kidding. This smells wonderful,” she remarked breathing deeply, looking around the kitchen.
“Belle honey, I’m so glad that you made it,” Marlena said as she embraced Belle. John kissed his only daughter on the cheek and hopped up and sat on the counter so that he had a better view of Marlena cooking. He was recording this to memory.
“Did you just get here? I didn’t hear the doorbell ring.” Marlena bent down and opened the oven door and proceeded to baste the turkey. Belle looked on in fascination.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” Belle asked.
“Yea, give your mother and I some privacy,” John muttered under his breath, loud enough for only Marlena to hear. Marlena turned around and gave John the ‘you better behave or else’ look.
“No, everything is under control…Where is that precious granddaughter of mine.” Marlena’s face lit up when she talked of Claire.
“Kate is holding her…Let me go get her,” Belle said and she turned around and left the kitchen.
“Finally, a moment alone,” John said as he hopped down from the counter and passionately embraced his wife. “I love you so much Marlena…Once I see my little baby granddaughter the day will be perfect.”
“We are so lucky John,” Marlena replied as she nuzzled into his chest.
“That we are…that we are.”

“Here’s to good friends and family,” John said as he lifted his glass of wine in a toast. “I’m honored that you all are sitting at my table and that I can call you family…Each of you has a special place in my heart and family…may the coming year treat you well.”
“To family and friends,” all the guests said as they raised their glasses in a toast.
“Marlena, this turkey is delicious,” Kate said as she took a bite. She was pleasantly surprised at the texture and taste.
“Thank you Kate.” Marlena took a small bite of stuffing.
“I still can’t believe that you made all of this mom,” Sami remarked. “This is really good.” After all these years, she had never seen her mom prepare a feast like this. Normally they went to Grandma Caroline’s for Thanksgiving. But this year Bo and Hope took Caroline and Shawn away on a Thanksgiving trip to Green Mountain, necessitating the first annual Black family thanksgiving.
“I wished that you could cook like this,” Lucas plainly stated. Austin choked on his mashed potatoes at the comment.
“I can cook Lucas,” Sami retorted.
“Mom, you suck,” Will said as he looked up. “Right Uncle Austin and Aunt Billie?”
“I’m staying out of this discussion,” Billie said. “As one person who cannot cook, I’m just happy to be fed something that didn’t come out of a restaurant.”
“Amen to that,” Austin said as he stuffed more food into his mouth.
“Doc, this is really good,” Roman remarked, smiling at his ex-wife. Who would have thought a couple of years ago that they would be able to eat a holiday meal at John’s house without a fight breaking out?
“I appreciate that Roman.” Marlena smiled at him, the smile growing as she felt John’s hand slowly moving up her thigh. She looked over at him and gave him an ocular warning.
“This is tasty,” John said emphasizing the word tasty. His hands slowly lifted her skirt, as they inched closer and closer to her core. Marlena looked over at Will sitting next to her and was relieved to see that his attention was elsewhere; Chelsea. John forked a piece of ham and slowly removed it with his teeth, almost seductively.
“John, would you please pass me the yams?” Philip asked his father-in-law. John abruptly pulled his hand away from Marlena’s thigh so that he could hold the crystal dish with both hands. As he was handing the dish to Philip he felt Marlena’s hand slowly move up his thigh and cup him. He felt and heard the faint sound of his zipper being lowered. Marlena sat calmly talking to Will about school. He felt her nails as they slid into his pants.
“John, you look a little red,” Roman remarked. “Yeah you do,” Austin agreed.
“It’s just a little warm in here,” John covered.
“Your right, it is a little warm dad…why don’t you open the patio doors and let some fresh air in,” Belle suggested. Her dad looked awfully flustered. She looked to her mom for help. Marlena just shrugged her shoulders.
“Doc, would you mind opening the french doors?” John asked Marlena sweetly. She had her hand around the reason why he couldn’t stand up and open the doors.
“Sure honey,” Marlena said as she withdrew her hand, squeezing him gently. Marlena put down her napkin on her chair and sauntered over to the french doors. “It’s snowing,” she squealed as she brought her hands to her mouth in excitement. “Belle honey, we’ve got to get Claire and get a picture of her with her first snow.”
“Mom, she’s sleeping,” Belle said as she rolled her eyes.
“Sorry sis, family tradition,” Sami added as she put her arm around Belle. Marlena had taken a picture of each of her children experiencing their first snow. Sami cherished the picture Marlena had taken of her and Will years ago. This was a family tradition that Sami was determined to see continue.
“Okay,” Belle said as she ascended the stairs with Sami to get Claire. The rest of the guests got up from the table to look at the snow. Roman and Kate bravely went out onto the terrace and were snuggling in the corner where they thought no one could see them. Billie and Austin were reminiscing about Thanksgiving’s past, letting Lucas know how poor kids spent the holiday. Will and Chelsea listened in awe as they tried to outdo each others’ stories.
John slowly made his way through the crowd to his wife. He put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to his chest. “You little vixen,” he murmured into her ear as he lightly bit it. “What do you think you were trying to do in there? Drive me crazy?”
“Paying you back for what you were doing to me…I can’t believe you pulled that little stunt with your grandson sitting next to me.”
“Grandson, how about your son-in-law sitting next to me.”
“You started it JB,” Marlena said as she pushed her bottom slowly into John. She heard his gasp. “Marlena,” he moaned, warning her not to keep this up. His put his hands on her hips and slowly moved her body away from his. He shouldn’t be touching her like this in a room full of family and friends.
“There’s my little girl,” Philip exclaimed upon seeing Belle come down the staircase holding Claire. Sami followed holding the camera.
“Let me get your picture,” John said as he took the camera from Sami. Philip and Belle posed with Claire, as the snowflakes swirled around her. John then took pictures of the rest of the guests, including one of Kate and Roman. When Marlena wasn’t looking, John took a great shot of her holding and talking to Claire.
“Let me get one of you and mom holding Claire?” Belle offered. John, looked over at Marlena before responding. “Could you get one of us with both our grandchildren?” Will looked up in surprise and joined his grandparents. John and Marlena sat on the couch with Will between them, Will holding Claire.
This was turning out to be the best Thanksgiving ever for a lot of the guests.

The last guests had left, the dishes were done and the house relatively clean. Marlena laid down on the living room sofa in exhaustion. “There’s a reason why we never did this before John,” she said as she closed her eyes.
“Why would that be?” he asked as he sat down next to her.
“Its too much work. I don’t know how Alice and Caroline managed to do it so well every year. I’m envious of their energy.”
“You did a great job. The food was fantastic and the conversation great…you, my dear, were the perfect hostess.” John leaned down and kissed Marlena on the lips. “You sure as hell were the hottest hostess I’ve ever seen. I’d eat in your restaurant anytime,” John muttered into her mouth as he deeply kissed her. Marlena opened her mouth, allowing him greater access. John deepened the kiss as he slowly moved his hand to the hem of her skirt and proceeded to slowly lift it. He abruptly stopped and sat up, breaking all contact with Marlena. “What’s wrong John?” Marlena asked.
“I forgot something,” John said as he got up from the couch and ran into the kitchen. Thirty seconds later he returned, his right arm behind his back.
“What are you hiding?” Marlena asked, trying to see what it was.
“Nothing,” John said trying to sound coy as he approached her.
“Stay away John…you tell me what it is.” Marlena got up from the couch and moved away from John. He had the look of mischief in his eyes. “Tell me John,” she warned him again.
“Just a little something,” he said showing her the can of whipped cream. “I forgot to eat my desert.” He took the cap off the can and slowly approached Marlena.
Marlena ran behind the couch to get away from him. “No John…No…No…No.”
“But I’m hungry,” John said seductively as he opened his mouth and squirted some of the whipped cream into it. “A growing man needs his desert and you happen to be it.” John leapt over the couch towards Marlena. Marlena took off up the stairs screaming.
