Kate spoke to Belle with venom in her voice, “You know I always knew that Sami was selfish… but she is nothing…NOTHING compared to you!”
Belle begins to cry and Marlena wraps her daughter in her arms, as she whisper to her, “Sweetheart are you alright?” “Of course she’s not alright. She is upset that I wont let her off the hook for her adultery with Shawn!” Kate said plainly. Belle whipped around and screamed at Kate, “I NEVER slept with him!” “You wanted to!” Kate said with equal anger, then softened her tone, “And you will. The whole time that you were planning on doing what you wanted to do with Shawn, you KNEW it was wrong, and you went ahead and you did it anyway… and that…THAT’S unforgivable! What do you think that just because your in love with Shawn Brady that gives you some special right to destroy my sons LIFE?” Marlena has had enough of Kate taking pot shots at her daughter. Marlena walked over to Kate and with more anger than Marlena has ever felt and she looked Kate square in the eyes…”That is ENOUGH KATE!” “You would be JUST as angry if it was YOUR son Marlena!” “You seem to have forgotten that OUR son has put himself in danger to rescue your son! John and I are worried SICK about him. We are worried about ALL of them…but as usual you are only worried about you and yours! Well I will tell you one thing right now…taking out your frustration on Belle wont bring your sons home any sooner. I know Belle better than anybody and I know for a FACT that she never meant to hurt anybody. That’s NOT who she is!” Kate snapped right back at her, “You need to take another look at your little girl. You’ve been gone a LONG time, and believe me… she’s changed!” With absolute fury in her voice Marlena spoke, “You need to STEP BACK Kate!” In the midst of all this arguing no one seemed to notice that Belle slipped out the front door, until Marlena turned to speak to her. She looked around the room in astonishment, “Where did Belle go?” Kate got a cocky look on her face, “Seems that your ‘mother’s instinct’ isn’t what it used to be, Marlena!” Marlena felt bad about upsetting Belle, and she was also sick and tired of Kate’s presence, she just wanted to be alone with her husband and get used to being home. “You know what Kate…I have been home all of FIVE MINTUES, and to be quite honest I’m already sick of you.” Roman took that opportunity to interrupt, “Kate, honey it’s really getting late. Why don’t you gather up your stuff so we can go, and give John and Marlena some privacy?” Roman said as he nodded at Marlena. “Thank you Roman…I would really like to get settled back into MY home and MY life.” Marlena said with a bit more attitude than was truly necessary. Kate caught the attitude in Marlena’s voice and decided to ignore it as she answered Roman, “ That sounds good Roman. Just give me a few minutes to pack up my things, and then we’ll go, okay?” Roman nodded, “Sure thing…why don’t I come up and help you!” John had something’s that he need to settle with Kate, so he interrupted, “Oh that’s okay Roman I will help her. Why don’t you and Doc relax for a little bit… it’s been a long day.” Roman didn’t seem to mind so he nodded in agreement. Marlena on the other hand was furious and about to protest, when Roman grabbed her arm and yanked her back, and then spoke to Kate and John as they ascended the stairs, “You guys take your time…we’ll be right here.” As John and Kate disappeared Roman turned to Marlena with an angry expression, “Marlena what the HELL is wrong with you? Are you purposely trying to ruin your reunion with John before it even happens?” Marlena looked at Roman with irritation as she sat on the sofa, “Roman… don’t be dense! I want nothing MORE than to be with John, the way we used to be.” “Then what is the problem Doc?” , he said as he walked over to sit next to her on the sofa. “Look Roman I can’t sit here and act like everything is the way it used to be. I can’t pretend that I wasn’t subjected to watching Kate and John’s little porn fest. Maybe you can…but I can’t.” Roman still doesn’t understand what her problem is, “Marlena I just don’t get it. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill here. Yes John and Kate were together, but it’s over now. We are home, and everything is as it should have been all these months.” He pauses briefly and then continues, “I just don’t get this sudden attitude of yours. And I sure as hell don’t get why you felt the need to rip Kate a new asshole a few minutes ago. What is going on with you?” Marlena let out a sigh, “I don’t know Roman… I just don’t know. Don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT sorry for what I said to Kate. As far as I’m concerned she deserved it, and then some! I can’t believe that I am saying this but, I feel such… hatred towards her.” Marlena began to weep softly, “Every time I see her… I get this image of her and my husband humping on my living room floor like two dogs in heat.” Roman let out a slight giggle, which Marlena didn’t miss, “I’m sorry I must have missed the joke.” she said starring at him with tears in her eyes. Roman giggled again, “Doc, I understand what you are saying. That image doesn’t exactly make me all warm and fuzzy either. But you have forgotten something, we aren’t exactly innocent in all this either! I’m sure that I don’t need to remind you of the fact that we…” Marlena suddenly cut him off, “No… you don’t need to remind me Roman! That is just one more thing to worry about. I can’t continue to lie to John about what happened between us. He deserves better than that from me.” Roman was getting upset about Marlena’s constant indecision on this subject “Marlena we already talked about this. I thought that we decided that we weren’t going to say anything!” “No Roman… you decided! You just ASSUMED that I would go along.” Roman spoke to her with a slightly raised voice, “Damn it Marlena I thought I already explained this to you. It would only hurt John and Kate more if we tell them what happened between us. Why do you want to cause them unnecessary pain?” Marlena in turn raised her voice, “The truth doesn’t hurt half as badly as it hurts to have someone you love lie to you Roman!” Roman shook his head in disagreement, “I think your wrong Doc! I’m telling you… the truth would crush them…I still think the best option is to keep the truth to ourselves.” Marlena just stared at him. With disbelief in her eyes and sarcasm in her voice, “I can’t BELIEVE that you just said that with a straight face! If I remember correctly… you weren’t to tickled when I kept the fact that I slept with John, a secret from YOU, while we were married. If I recall you were so FRIGGN tickled by that lie that you…DIVORCED ME… Roman!” Roman tried to comfort her but she pulled away. Marlena was sobbing now, all of her fears were finally coming to the surface, after trying to hide them with her anger. “Don’t you see Roman! If I lie to John, and he finds out some other way. It would destroy him and the trust he has in me. I have spent months dreaming of being with him again… and after all those months that dream has finally become a reality.” She started so sob uncontrollably as she tried to finish speaking, “It…would kill me…to be reunited with him…just to…to turn around and lose him…because I LIED TO HIM!” She covered her face with her hands, trying to stop the tears from falling. She turned away from Roman and headed to the front door! “DOC! Doc where are you going?” he said as he approached her. She turned to face him as she tired to wipe away the never ending tears, “I need to get some air Roman.” He grabbed her arm to stop her, “Doc, what am I going to tell John when he asks where you have gone?” Marlena shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t know Roman. Apparently you have become very good at lying…make something up!” she finished at she turned around and slammed the door, leaving Roman there to wonder what was going to happen next!
