Later the same day John was sitting in the penthouse looking at the package that had just arrived for him. He sat there with tears in his eyes. The thought of what he was looking at tore at his heart. He held a PDA in his left hand and a note in the other. He read the note over again:
My Dearest Brother, This is what your future holds! Enjoy! ~Tony!
John took the note and ripped it to shreds. He stood and lifted his left arm to slam the PDA against the wall… then suddenly he stopped himself! He gathered his wits and then stared at the desk…walking as best he could over to it. He saw the vile of drugs and the needle sitting there as though they were calling to him. He grabbed the vile and the needle. After filling the needle with more drugs than he normally took he jammed the needle into his thigh… without a second thought. He starred at the phone contemplating his next move. With a deep breath he lifted the phone from it’s cradle and dialed the number. After a few rings the recipient picked up the phone, “Hello?” John took a deep breath, “Meet me at Salem Place in twenty minutes!”, John barked out as a demand more than a request and hung up the phone. John washed up, and changed his close and left to go to Salem Place! About a half hour later John was sitting there waiting for his companion to join him. John looked at the PDA…anger flushed his face! John was wrapped in his anger and didn’t hear the footsteps that were approaching. John was lost in his anger until he felt someone grab his shoulder, “John?” John wiped around and saw Roman standing there. John’s eyes shot daggers at him, “Are you unable to tell time Roman? I said twenty minutes!” Roman shot daggers back at him, “What crawled up your ass today?” John shrugged off his comments, “Roman I’m not in the mood. You and I have a problem!” Roman sat at the table across from John, “Well it’s obvious that YOU have a problem, where do I come in?” John gave out a grunt, “This is where you come in!” John pulled out the PDA and shoved it in Romans face. Roman stared at it, “What the hell is that?” Roman took it from John and just stared at it. “There is a very interesting video on there Roman. Why don’t you watch it …and then you will see where you fit into my problem!” Roman tentatively took it from John’s hand. Roman sat there watching the video. As he continued to watch the video his eyes grew wide with horror at what he was seeing. When the video finished Roman sat there dumbfounded not knowing what to say to John. John just stared at him, “Well?” Roman hung his head for a moment and then looked back at John, “I…I don’t know what to…say John.” John looked at him with no clear expression on his face, ”Roman… when you got home… You assured me…that THIS…” John grabbed the PDA and waved it in Roman’s face, “you assured me this wasn’t a possibility!” Roman just shook his head, “John…just calm down a minute!” John stood from the table with such a force that his chair went flying backwards. John was in a fit of rage that he had never been in before, “I will NOT calm down Roman! I am sick and tired if this SHIT! I am putting a stop to it for once and for ALL!” John stormed off and Roman ran after him and grabbed his arm to bring him to a halt, “JOHN! Don’t go off half cocked! Let sit together and work this thing out!” John stopped and caught his breath. After claming down John and Roman walked back to their table. They sat there quietly until John broke the silence, “Roman I know what I have to do…and I am going to do it. But…there are a few things I want you to be aware of first!” John and Roman sat and talked for about an hour. John stared intently at Roman, “Roman do you understand what I’m saying!” Roman shook his head in acknowledgement, “Yes John but…what are you going to say to Marlena?” John hung his, “I’m NOT telling her!” Roman looked at John with his mouth agape, “JOHN! How can you not tell her! You can’t lie to her about what‘s going on!” John looks skyward as if he is looking for something, Roman looks at him as though he has lost his mind, “John…what the hell are you doing?” John keeps looking while talking to Roman, “I am just looking for the lightning that is bound to strike you!” Roman snorted, “Okay I have no right to talk about keeping secrets.” John looks at him in wonder, ”Gee…you think! I have told you my reasons for doing what I am going to do…I really don’t care whether or not you like them!” Roman pats John on the shoulder, “John…are you sure about this! I know how hard this is going to be!” John sadly, “Yeah…I’m sure Roman! But…it’s…it’s the only way to make things…right!” John looked Roman in the eyes, “I can count on you?” Roman was hesitant at first, “Yes…I give you my word!” John and Roman were engrossed in their conversation when John glanced over Roman’s shoulder and just stared, his conversation all but forgotten. Roman snapped his fingers in front of John’s face, “John…earth to John!” Roman gave up the effort of trying to get John’s attention and followed John’s gaze to see what had him so memorized. After a moment Roman saw what John was staring at, “Uh Oh!” Roman took a deep breath, “Are you really sure about this!” John looked at Roman, “No…but I don’t have a choice! It’s the only way.” Roman was about to reply when he heard, “DADDY!” He turned and saw Sami approaching with Marlena and Belle not far behind! Roman glanced at John, “Show Time.
